After four years working for a large consumer products company, Rachel had already advanced to the post-MBA level within her firm and was concerned that this would lead the adcom to assume that she was merely “checking a box”. However, Rachel’s true desire was to leverage her marketing experience in a completely different industry. As such, Rachel and her consultant worked to refine her goals and lay-out the “why” behind her career decisions as well as her unique ideas for her target industry.
In addition, Rachel worked with her consultant to boil down her experience into the strongest examples of her ability to lead and problem solve on a team and demonstrate the inherent value she’d bring to the classroom. Finally, Rachel and her consultant focused on highlighting her interests and providing evidence that she was involved outside of work even though she didn’t have formal extracurriculars. Rachel was admitted to HBS and Stanford and has decided to attend Stanford!

As a guy in finance, Brad knew that the competition for the top ranked schools would be stiff. In addition, having worked in large, process-oriented financing institutions, he had not had many opportunities for high impact leadership to distinguish himself. As such, Brad’s Vantage Point consultant helped him determine which of his past experiences would best demonstrate his personality, character and drive; and then helped him to better articulate not only his career goals but how his past experience had helped him arrive at those goals. Brad had the fortunate choice to decide between offers at both Booth and Kellogg!
